Webinar: The Reasonable & Prudent Parent Standard: What Does it Mean and How Do Caregivers Reduce Legal Exposure?

If you are a member, click here.

Join us for PAFCAF Webinar on the new Reasonable & Prudent Parenting Standard.

When determining whether to allow a foster child to participate in extracurricular, enrichment, cultural and social activities, South Carolina law requires caregivers to use the “reasonable and prudent parent standard.” This means the caregiver must make careful and sensible parental decisions that maintain the health, safety and best interests of a child while at the same time encouraging the emotional and developmental growth of the child.

What does the Reasonable & Prudent Parent Standard mean for your agency? How do you manage risk and reduce liability? Join us for a webinar to explore the impact and learn what you can do to reduce legal risk to your agency and employees. Attorney Will Jordan with Sowell Gray will guide you through the law and provide practical tips for moving forward.

Will Jordan is an attorney with Sowell Gray Robinson Stepp & Laffitte, LLC in Columbia. Will has a diverse range of legal experience. In addition to representing clients in litigation, Will has experience advising clients on employment issues, drafting employee handbooks and other company policies, reviewing and negotiating contracts, and advising clients on best practices for avoiding litigation. Will previously served as Chief Counsel for Administration for the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control where his primary duties included advising management on employment issues, reviewing and negotiating agency contracts, and drafting and reviewing agency policies and procedures. Will also has experience advising boards of directors.
